Photography Inspirations - What's Yours?

Are you a pure point & shooter? Do you have a certain type of music or artist that inspires your photography? Is there perhaps a certain place in your neighborhood, town, city, or state that you go to and get inspired by the environment?

I know a lot of people fall into the point and shoot category, and I'm about 50% that way... the other 50% usually comes from the fact that I'm obsessed [it's more of a healthy fascination] with horror movies and the macabre. I find myself being drawn to shoot more in black and white or using darker environments as my focus most of the time.

What about you though... Buzznet Photogs and O.G.'s -- Whether you're a pro or an amateur I'm curious as to what inspires your photography.

Just forward your response as a bulletin so you can share your inspirations with myself and others.

Actually most of what I do is studio-like work. I love to sometimes capture things in the moment, but 95% of the time I have everything already thought out in my head. Lara Jade used to inspire what I do, but now I think it's just my mind that lets everything out on it's own. I'm a big fan of the city and city-life, but most of my shots are done in the country because it gives me more options of things to place where I want and locations.

I shop at thrift stores to get inspired. There's always so many aged, but beautfiul things, that give me so many ideas. Vintage furniture, aged clothing, creepy little trinkets that radiate so many memories give me ideas. They make me want to take pictures. And it's funny, because most of my pictures have nothing to do with old fashioned or aged things. But they do inspire my costuming. There are also a lot of meadows and mountains where I live, and they make for gorgeous backdrops. I use them often. The other half of pictures I take are totally candid. Going to public places and seeing little kids, young couples, even homeless people are so beautiful. I hope to god they can't notice me holding up my camera and take their pictures!

My inspiration is an honest desire not to suck. Before December I hadn't really taken too many pictures. I had some interest earlier in life and played around with toy cameras for awhile but that was it. One day I saw a featured picture on buzznet I didn't like at all and thought was crap and it sort of set me off on a goal not to suck. Since then its become a sort of obsession, where if I'm bored I can spend hours and hours reading about photography, photographers and just everything I can take in. My goal is not be famous, or even make a career out of it just to take pictures that at the end of the day I can look at and say "That's something I want to show to others"
Living in New York City helps a lot too, it gives me a naturally interesting place for me to take pictures of. I know the city to some extent enough where I can decide I want to go to one place and take pictures. As a teenager I hung out with a lot of punks and skate rates so I have a healthy appreciation that dirty and rundown can be beautiful in its own way.
I'll put on a Black Flag album on the Ipod and just take pictures. Everyday I become braver about shooting people or I become more confident about something I might have not been sure before it just makes me want to do it more so I can get better. It feeds itself.

first who inspired me for the photography was my brother. and I bought a camera and doing some experiment with it, the lightning, focus, everything.. and for sure, asked my brother to teach me about the technics! haha I don't go to beautiful places everyday to take some pics, just captured my stuff, and make them more amazing than it looks ^^
